Simple Entertainment

One of our favorite things in San Diego this last time was collecting sand dollars and blowing bubbles on the beach (can you tell in the picture that there are bubbles? The sea breeze did all the work and the girls loved chasing the bubbles). I realize every time we take a vacation that usually the most memorable and fun experiences are spontaneous and free. Of course we loved Sea World and the Zoo, but the play ground right outside our Navy Lodge hotel room was fantastic and we spent hours playing on the beach.

(Off the subject (can you start a sentence with parantheses?)) we are planning how to landscape our barren back yard and almost every day Daniel comes home and tells me the kids will be so sad when they can't just dig in the dirt and play in the sand (which is pretty much all our back yard is right now). I am very seriously tempted to put in a huge sand pile that has hook ups for volleyball so it can serve them at all ages. Is that too strange to have in your back yard?

We put a huge sand pit in our first house...the kids loved it, unfortunately, so did the neighborhood cats...that's the only drawback...but I bet your handy husband could rig up a cover without any trouble at all.
