In honor of the random holiday Labor Day (because honestly, does anyone know what Labor Day celebrates? In Daniel's family I think they call is Hard Labor Day and even today Daniel first thing went out to do yard work. I think Labor Day exists because, hey, the last time we gave the postal workers a day off was all the way back at the fourth of July. They deserve another break) I am dedicating this post to simple randomness that I happen to love. And to the mental health of the postal workers. Happy Labor Day to you all!
Random item number one: I realized today when I went walking that music really does help. For the last while (translation: since I've been pregnant) I have not been exercising much and when (which wasn't often) I would go walking I didn't bring music since the idea was to have a calm, relaxing experience: notice the beauty of nature, be able to respond if a rattle snake was annoyed at me, gather thoughts, find things to be positive about, you get the idea. So when I was going to meet some ladies to walk the canyon (what would have been a 3 mile hard walk) and they didn't show I decided to walk it alone which was very big of me. I might have gone up 1/4-1/2 mile when I determined that that would do. Turned right around and headed home (which hasn't been that unusual, other days I would find a short cut someway or other). Contrast today: I brought my ipod and I almost ran when the song told me to "run baby run". The music really distracts me from how hard I'm working. Between songs was the only time I realized how loud I was breathing and I was amazed that I could even hear the songs over my breathing and desperately hoped I wasn't bothering the neighbors.
Random Dos: I noticed today that I am getting another cold sore in the corner of my mouth. When I can take meds I would pop them right now and the cold sore would magically go away. But since I am in a "no med" condition I get to go through the whole sha-bang. Which I just got over a cold sore in my nose which was always entertaining because I always had my fingers up my nose (thus the picture, I hope none of you are offended).
Randomness Third: I love reading Chris Clark's blog (http://www.thejollyporter.blogspot.com/) and have been tempted to bid up the auction to have him blog about me, essentially making me the most popular person in the world. (If any of you would like to donate to this cause I will humble accept). I often will tell one of my friends when a particularly funny post comes up, in which she usually replies that she "laughed until she almost peed her pants." And I have to wonder, is that an exaggeration? Because she also tells me that she has lost some bladder control and actually pees her pants a lot. What is this almost thing? Some sort of emotional protection I guess.
Number Four: Last night we watched Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Arc and I realized yet again that I tend to be frightened of ugly things (let's not get into any perceived irony here.) Re-watching this I remembered that I had nightmares about the melting faces at the end of the movie. That is a scary part and so darn ugly. How it got a PG rating is beyond me. I was just grateful that we watched Spiderwick Chronicles (which is still scary by the way) at Lindsey's party instead of this. Which, Lindsey is now a Young Woman, can you believe that? I looked at the deacons the other day and told her I wouldn't mind her dating any of those boys when she turns 16, to which she replied "well that's good mom" when I was still expecting her to say "ew, yuck."
Numero sinco: I am disturbed that Sarah Palin's (GOP VP Pick) 17 year old daughter is pregnant. Is this going to affect the election? I don't know.
Seventh: When am I going to learn that A LOT of the Tucson plants/weeds have really sharp pokey things on them. Sometimes even the fruit. With how many times I have been stabbed you'd think I'd learn, but I haven't. Probably every other week I make this same stupid mistake, though usually with a different plant.

Congratulations! (on your pregnancy, not the cold sores). How far along are you?
Wow Carol - you are random. And how about that crazy friend of your who "almost" pees her pants - you should tell her to start doing kegels and maybe wear depends???
Good job on the excercise. I am still gearing myself up mentally to get up and move at all. Someday I will be there! Somebody has to be the "couch potato" referred to in the "stuff white people like" book - you know - so all of you athletic types can have someone to prod and to gloat over! =)
BTW, it is nearly Fall here - I am talking 50's and beautiful. Come on by!
I've got a cold sore in the corner of my mouth too! But unlike you, I can now take medecation.
